Hello today I am going to talk about my experience writing this blog. I want to say that this is the first time that I write a blog in english. this blog has been a very good experience. iIthink that the best way to learn english is practicing; talking and writing in english. The formulas to make sentences are useless if we not practice english daily. So, write a blog in english is a good way to learn new words and ways to say a lot of things. This blog helped me to use all the things that I learned in the school, but i realize that there is a lot of things that i have to learn and study to perfect my english. I would like to continue learning english at the university because iIlike it and it is usefull to the future.

I think that my skills have been improved with this activity because I learned to say things that I did not know.

In the future I wolud like to learn to speak and writte stuff related with my career because Is hard to me when I have to read texts in english, so I think that if I write things like this, it will be easier.

Finally I would like to say thanks to our english teacher because she thought in a good activity to teach english to us.

Today I would like to talk about my favorite subject. When I was a school student I liked a subject called “National Reality”, that was about political and social content related with Chile. The teacher was a woman and her name was Verónica Donoso. I really liked this subject because I always wanted to learn more about the relevant things for the country from a perspective oriented to the social sciences.

In the class we read papers, reports  and statistical information about social phenomenons related with political and economic system like the poverty, inequality, discrimination, etc. The work in class consisted in analyze the information, discuss and write essays about what we learned complementing with more information. For me, that was very exciting.

I liked this subject because I believed that learn important things for the society in a good way was very relevant. We needed to learn a lot to fortify our expression skills and our vocabulary. In that subject I learned to read and to analyze, and I learned to write an essay better than in the language class.

Something is wrong in Chile

I'm not going to vote in the 2013 elections for president in Chile. I think that this is not a real way of participation for people who doesn't have any political power.
The Chilean democracy does not really allow to people to decide in their country. I think that a way to discredit the election system is avoiding vote. I’m not interested in support to a candidate whose interest isn't in the people.
The problem is that when somebody doesn't vote, the mass media often say that the persons who don't vote are not interested in politics or the country.
I think that the politicians should have to be persons faithful to their principles and they have to be really representatives and interested in people. The actual political class is an oligarchic class, and they benefit their personal interests. The political system in Chile does not allow that a person who doesn't have any power or money, become an authority in the Government.
The political campaigns spend a lot of money in advertising and they contaminate the country, but they not spread their political principles or their real intentions to get a political position. They just favor to people with little things to convince them to vote. I think that the correct way to make a political campaign is talking to the people, debating and educating politically to the population for a long time, but they get close to people just in elections time.

I wouldn't like to become a politician; I prefer to work constantly in constructing political principles for the people and educating them to understand the inequality system and participate in politics.

I chose this picture because I think that Salvador Dalí is a very interesting human, he was an eccentric artist.
He was a painter, a sculptor, a stage designer and a Spanish writer. I like this picture because he looks very young, he was 35 years old. The photograph was taken on November 29, 1939 by Carl Van Vechten, who was an American writer and a photographer principally of celebrities. Dali is a representative of surrealism and his work is amazing.
He had a relationship with the poet Federico García Lorca, wich one he studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando a few years before the photograph was taken.
I really like this picture, this is one of most “normal” photos that I’ve seen of Dalí, but the way he looks shows that he was a very narcissistic person, and his moustache was very short in this opportunity.

Lost in Translation

My favorite movie is “Lost in Translation” written and directed by Sofia Coppola. I really like this movie because my favorites actors are in there: Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. The film is about two persons: Bill Murray as Bob Harris and Scarlett Johansson as Charlotte, they traveled to Tokyo and they don’t know the city. He is a famous actor and she is the wife of a photographer that is actually working on Japan. They feel very alone until they know each other; they go over the city with a few Japanese Charlotte’s friends and they create a special connection.

My favorite part of the movie is when they go partying at the middle of the night and suddenly, one of the Charlotte’s friends argues with a barman and he starts shooting them. They have to run a lot and it’s very exciting.
Also, I like this movie because I like the soundtrack that is full of “Shoegaze” and I like this kind of music. I wouldn’t change anything of the movie, it’s very attractive and this isn’t the traditional American movie.

I want to talk about a special day, I was 8 years old and I still believed on Santa Claus. That afternoon I was so excited because Christmas, and a friend from school told me that Santa didn’t exist. That made me feel confused and sad, I had to do something to know the truth.
I planned something to do; I wanted to get an autograph from him. I prepared a piece of paper and a pencil. The paper had written in: “Dear Santa, sign if you exist”, that was perfect to finally know the truth.
At midnight I was nervous, I was losing my hope, I was believing that Santa didn’t exist. I opened my gifts and I forgot the paper. I was playing with my new toys in the street with my neighbours when I remembered my plan. I entered to my house quickly and under the Christmas tree was my paper, I took that whit my eyes closed and when I finally watched the little paper I was shocked. ¡That was the Santa’s sign! I really believed that the sign was him.
When I grew up I realized that my mother signed the paper that I kept by the next years. That was a good night, I’ll never forget that.

Salvador Allende

The person on the picture is Salvador Allende, he was a doctor and a politician, and a socialist activist. He was born on June 26th,1908 on Santiago, Chile. He studied at the "Universidad de Chile".
In 1970, Salvador became the President of the Republic of Chile by popular vote. He pretended to establish a socialist state by the institutional way. His government was very obstructed, the Chilean right didn't want that the communism stayed on Chile and the international forces again the Russian communism planned to bring down the wishes of Salvador Allende. This period of the Chilean history is very dark, the most damaged was the people, there were scarcity and a lot of problems with the implementation of public politics guided to socialism. Finally on September 11th of 1973 the public forces attacked the actual order with an offensive using violence, tanks, weapons, bombs, airplanes, and a detailed strategy to kill to Salvador Allende and eliminate the communism "threat", that was a horrible day, the president and a lot of activist was murdered and that was the beginning of 27 year of dictatorship, torture and violations to the human rights.

I admire Salvador Allende for a lot of reasons, at first, because his love to people, he believed on the Chileans, he trusted that with his victory the proletariat finally was to live in justice. I admire him for his wishes and his solidarity with people. Maybe I'm not a socialist, but his dedication and sacrifice to make of Chile a better place to live makes me admire him. Is hard to find a person who be able to fight until the last consequences to get his objective, and that he wanted to get that by the institutional way, something so hard to get, that implicate a lot of work, is remarkable. He gave his live for the objective.
